In America with the 2017 election, many LGBT people were elected to public office 448 to be exact; however this is still very far away from the amount necessary to have an equal percentage of LGBT people in public office, and the LGBT members of the population. Currently LGBT people occupy 0.1% of public office, and at minimum 5% of the population, therefore we need around 50 times more LGBT people in office to make it even.
