A catholic university in Kansas was planning to have art exhibit entitled “Rainbow in reverse: Queer Kansas History” which used different art forms to honor the various achievements of LGBT Kansans. The artist originating from the town where the exhibit was going to be showcased is now looking for a new place to hold it after the community lashed out at the college after the college “thought it best to cancel, after local community members expressed concerns.” These community concerns were accusations of the college exposing the students to evil and a sickness in our society. LGBT student leader Kevin Clack, president of Kaleidoscope an LGBTQ group at the school formed last year stated that this shows how “they make us feel like we aren’t as much a part of the Newman community as other students.”

Ketua MPR: Lima Parpol Setujui LGBT
In Indonesia, five factions of the House approved LGBT recognition to be added, removing the laws that discriminate against lgbt people and approving same-sex marriage among other issues. This Could be showing a change in Indonesia where an anti-gay crackdown has been occurring, seen in another move today by the majority of the house where they asked google to remove all LGBT apps from the Indonesian store, and have arrested 141 gay men and publically humiliated them, created an anti LGBT police force and called all LGBT identities a mental disorder in a statement by the Air Force. Hopefully these factions can start to create a shift in the thought of indonesian people 93% of whom oppose homosexuality.

Pence Aide Hits Back at Gay Olympian Adam Rippon
The only response from Mike Pence is from his spokeswoman who stated that the claim is completely false. The claim made by gay figure skater and LGBT rights championioner Adam Rippon was in response to commenting that he was not looking forward to meeting Mike Pence, someone who supported “ex-gay” or conversion therapy, as is tradition for olympic athletes to meet the president and vice president. This is almost a blatant lie by the spokeswoman, Pence voted against a bill that would have suppressed conversion therapy, supported the military keeping the homophobic “don’t ask don’t tell” policy, or replacing it with the older policy banning LGBT individuals from serving. This is nothing more than another lie from a member of the Trump Administration, one who has done nothing but support the destruction of LGBT rights.
Ugandan police raid and shut down queer film festival
A LGBT film festival that was scheduled to run for 2 days in Uganda was shut down on its first day, after police were tipped off to it. The police went to even being held in an abandoned warehouse equipped with AK-47s with the intent to kill or arrest those in attendance. Luckily while the event was shut down there has been no report of arrest and everyone in attendance seems safe, this is however unconfirmed that no one was arrested.
Intimate Partner Violence is an LGBT Issue
The Violence Against Women Act is up for reauthorization in Congress and under both President Donald Trump’s leadership and the strong republican House of Representatives, the pieces of the bill that allow this protection towards LGBT people is risked being taken away, as commentary on the bill by the justice department says “
This groundbreaking provision will ensure that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking are not denied, on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity, access to the critical services that OVW supports.
“(https://www.justice.gov/archives/ovw/blog/vawa-2013-nondiscrimination-provision-making-programs-accessible-all-victims-domestic) This part of legislation that prevented individuals from being discriminated against and not recieving help if these things occurred can very likely be taken away by the Republican majority.

During a meeting democrat Bradford, touched republican Metcalf’s arm in order to get his attention so that he could make a statement. Metcalf then responded that Bradford should stop touching him and “I am heterosexual… I dont like men as you might… you have people on your side that might like it.” Bradford was rightfully shocked by this and earlier today the Governer asked him to stop down.
Masterpiece Cakeshop Supreme Court Case
The United States Supreme Court is hearing a case from 2011, wherein the owner of the Masterpiece Cakeshop would not make a wedding cake for two men, as he did not support same-sex marriage under his religious beliefs. He was sued in State Court by the couple as this went against Colorado’s Civil Rights legislation where it puts that denying service to LGBT people because of that reason is discrimination. It is now being heard in the Supreme Court as a First Amendment issue. Under the practice clause stating free practice of religion, as saying that as he was practicing his religion it is not discrimination. If the SCOTUS (supreme court of the United States) rules alongside the Cakeshop this would greatly decrease LGBT rights and would increase discrimination.
